For the very first time, an adult production studio has partnered up with the PGA.

VivThomas.com, a high quality adult production studio, with a passion for golf, sponsored a pro-am competition featuring top Portuguese golf players in conjunction with PGA Portugal.

In November, VivThomas.com sponsored their first ever Pro-Am competition at the idyllic Benamor Golf Course. Nestled in the rolling hills of the East Algarve, Benamor is a stone’s throw from Tavira and they eagerly hosted the Pro-Am with their usual flair and superb customer service. Huge thanks to Viv Thomas’ good friends at Playboy TV for co-sponsoring the event!

PGA Portugal Order of Merit

The day dawned crisp and clear and the weather held all the way through the tournament. PGA Portugal’s order of merit was extremely well represented and many of the most famous golfers in Portugal turned out for what will hopefully become an annual competition. Antonio Sobrinho and current number three, Hugo Santos, whose brother, Ricardo Santos, is co-incedently holding the first place right now. Fourteen golf pro’s in total graced us with their presence and many officials including the President of PGA Portugal, José Correia, played through.

A large percentage of the amateur players hailed from the mythical Falcões golf club: a group of business colleagues and old friends who play a committed game every weekend. Old friends shouted out to each other and amidst much back slapping and jesty chuckles the first smack of a driver pierced the morning air with a metallic ping. Sobrinho had teed off and the game was on!

Importantly, Esporão sponsors the wine

After a competitive morning 46 keen golfers returned to the 19th hole for some refreshment which mainly took the form of a crisp Esporão white wine. Recently this famous estate purchased a few farms in the Douro and Quinta de Murças wine regions and their wines are being launched around the land. This refreshingly tasty wine sits delicately on the palate and the golfers and their guests consumed the samples on offer with great gusto. Benamor’s gourmet kitchen kicked into high gear and course after course of delicacies rolled out, with the wine from Esporão flowing copiously and an empty glass was ne’er to be seen.

 Longest Drive finals

The longest drive still had to be decided and in the midst of festivities, just after the main course had been served, whistles were blown and the top five longest drivers were called to the 1st tee and ordered to compete. Antonio Sobrinho cracked his ball down the fairway almost making a dent in the official buggy where Viv Thomas was observing from the fairway. The winner was announced and everyone proceeded inside to the prize giving.

Prizegiving with Jose Correia and Viv Thomas

Viv Thomas himself and Jose Correia President of PGA finally hushed the crowd and handed out the prizes ranging from premium sponsors Playboy merchandise which included high quality golf balls, gloves and tees, to golf bags and Nike shoes. Everyone went home with excellent prizes and many great memories.

Another exceptionally well prepared day ran without a hitch and there were mutterings in the car park about next year, next year. We will see!

Hopefully everyone is settled back at work after yet another magnificent tournament. Thanks to Viv, John and the team at Sierra Park Club. You guys did an amazing job in looking after all of us! Of course more thanks go to all you crazy characters who make this such a special event and well done to the winners: Alex and Roger.

Here are 150 odd photos of the week – if you want to download all 675 photos then go ahead and download this zip.

We’ll be staying in the Sierra Park Club (check it out on the map) and it looks like we have hit the sweet spot. Thanks to John Graham for the great deal!

These guys even have a Facebook page and a web site in case you’d like to do some further reading.

Puerto Banus down the road might pique your interest as well…  I just bumped into an interesting little Marbella NightLife site so do your homework before coming over.

On Wednesday we’re teeing off at a respectable 12:00 (not like one other day where we have a 9:30am tee-time!).  La Quinta is “one of the finest golf courses on the Costa del Sol, Spain” (says their site – hell, it gets better and better doesn’t it?).

This one does look good, though, with three 9-hole courses set into the surrounding countryside from which you can see the Med AND the mountains surrounding “Marbella Golf Valley” (soon to be renamed to Marbella Golf Alley when we get there).

Los Naranjos was voted “course of the year” in the Costa del Sol in 2005 and 2008, so they must be doing something right! It was opened back in 1977 and has been host to tons of competitions including the Spanish Open. On their web site they say that it is ranked as one of the best courses in Spain.

We play the “generous fairways” on Friday, (our final day). It’s a fairly long course with the yellows clocking in a 5,813 metres. I hope you’re looking forward to this one.

Gary Player must have been having a good day when they invited him to design this incredible course set in the peaceful El Paraiso valley. Majestic mountains form an incredible silhouette to the north, while the cool waters of the Med lap away to the south. It’s been around since 1973 and apparently has one of the best championship course layouts on the coast.

We’ll be descending on this gem, en mass on Tuesday morning so prepare for a beautiful first day. John Graham and Viv both decided that this course was so awesome that we’d do it twice. So we’re coming back again on the Thursday 9th June.

Playboy TV UK is headlining the sponsors for the annual VivThomas.com Golf Week in Marbella, Spain this year.

Viv Thomas remarked “We have had a long and mutually rewarding relationship with Playboy TV over the years and I am absolutely delighted to have them on board for this years “VivThomas Masters” Golf Tournament in 2011. Naturally Playboy Golf is an established brand, we value and appreciate their support with their extremely generous sponsorship”.

The VivThomas Masters tees off in sun drenched Marbella on Tuesday the 7th June and there are still places available. If you are wanting to participate and enjoy a week of “gripping your shaft tightly and driving your balls into the rough” check out www.vivthomasmasters.com or e-mail us directly.

Many deals have been brokered and relationships strengthened on the fairways of Iberia over the last four years while the tournament has been running. We look forward to another highly enjoyable golf week this summer.

We’re certainly looking forward to a week in June packed with golf, super hot weather and a few drinks in Puerto Banus. Are you?

Hello Gents,

The time has come for us to start planning for next years Golf Masters.

As some of you may remember, it was muted that we have the 2011 event in Spain. With this in mind John Graham has really done his homework and he’s put together what I consider to be a tremendous package for the guys.

See the attached flyer for the program of events, accommodation and transport arrangements. The resort has been booked exclusively for the golfers for the week, 6th to 13th June. Arrivals will be on Monday 6th June, playing 18 holes each day 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th, departing on Saturday 11th.
